Christmas Service Leaflet Drop
We’re going to try and do a leaflet drop through the doors of the parish advertising Christmas services. This won’t be a “door knocking” exercise as much as posting! In the spirit of Christian unity, I’ve said that we will include any leaflets that the Methodist church and Baptist Church want to give us. The latter may be able to offer help.
Please sign up for a street on the sheet in church. The drop will ideally happen in week starting November 24th. Thanks so much. Love in Christ Daf.

Wanted
I am attempting to make a tree for the Christmas tree festival on 7th December. If you have any paperback books you have read and do not need any longer, would you donate them to my project. If so, leave in the room just on the right-hand side as you come into the workshop. Many thanks Linda M

The Creation
A performance by local Choir, AMCHOR of THE CREATION by Joseph Haydn is to be held at St Mary's Church, Old Amersham on Saturday 23rd November at 4.30pm (Please note the late afternoon time.) Tickets at £20 (Students £10, under 16s free) are available from me or via the Box Office 07748 154089 (see Poster in the Workshop).

Christmas By The Common
On 1st December the Village Society are holding Christmas by the Common outside the Village Centre and we are hoping that the churches in Holmer Green will come together with a choir to sing carols. They will all be well known ones so no rehearsals are necessary just come and sing lustily and remind people what Christmas is all about. We will need to be there to start singing at 16.25 and will sing for about 20mins. Please let Jane (janedotking@yahoo.com) or David Cook (david@cooks.me.uk) know if you can come and join the fun. It would be great to have as many as possible.

PASTORAL CARE
If you know of anyone in need or if you require help yourself, please don’t hesitate to contact our Pastoral Care Team through the Church Office.

Please Pray For: Pam, Pene, Duncan, Jennifer, Amanda, Linda, Tanya, Olive, Christopher, Bryan, Rob, Kathy, Alan, Stella, Sue, Mary, and others ill at home or in hospital.

Collect for the Second Sunday before Advent
Heavenly Lord, you long for the world’s salvation: stir us from apathy, restrain us from excess and revive in us new hope that all creation will one day be healed in Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet in two places just to confuse things (details here) for our Sunday Services starting at 10am. On the 1st, 3rd & 4th Sundays of the month we're at Christ Church Holmer Green, either in the Church Centre or the church building. On the 2nd and 5th (if there is one!) we meet at Holy Trinity Penn Street.

For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will give you any books and information you need for the service.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service. It is a great way to meet people and find out about church life . All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet in the main entrance of the Christ Church centre and an accessible toilet in Holy Trinity. Both churches have wheelchair access and a hearing loop.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10am. We sing a mixture of old and new songs. There's always a Bible passage read and a talk explaining it and how it speaks into our lives today. Someone will lead us in prayer and on two Sunday's a month we share Holy Communion together. Everyone is welcome at every service.

What about my kids?

We love to see children at church. We have:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • Encounter (4-11 years)
  • Young people (11+ years) Stay in service.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. The service leader will announce when it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, praying,  craft, drama, and fun games. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes o.r when we have communion they will be brought back into the service to be with you before the end.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
