Help with the Church Yard at Holy Trinity Penn Street

The High Wycombe Branch of the Royal Artillery Association recently decided to help with the cost of maintaining the churchyard at Holy Trinity Church Penn Street which contains a memorial to a distinguished Royal Artillery soldier, Sir Frances Warde. He fought in the Crimean War, was present at Cadiz, helped Wellington defeat Napoleon at Waterloo, and was knighted in 1873.

Our photograph shows Mr Stuart Reid, Branch Chairman, presenting the cheque to Mrs Joan Wainman, Church Warden, Holy Trinity Church, Penn Street.

HIGH PERFORMING SCHOOL

Curzon School, Penn Street was assessed by an RE Quality Mark Inspector in early summer 2017 and the school's regular RE lessons gained high praise, as did the Christian distinctiveness of the institution.

Pupils demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of religions and through the Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) enjoyed visits to a Mandhir, a Sikh Temple and a Jamia Masjid Mosque in Slough. This enabled strong links to be forged for the school.

The school also credits recent improvements to courses attended by staff, led by schools advisers from the Diocese of Oxford and the Local Authority.

THE STAFF OF THE GREAT MISSENDEN CO-OP FOOD STORE HAVE NOMINATED "HOLMER GREEN CHURCH" TO RECEIVE DONATIONS

as one of three local community groups, from the CO-OP Community Fund, and payments to us will be spread over 12 months.

YOU CAN HELP to increase the donation we receive from the CO-OP, by doing the following:

1) Become a CO-OP member** (if not already one). This will involve a visit to the CO-OP food shop at Great Missenden to join the CO-OP and get a temporary membership card (cost £1.00).
2) Register your membership as per instructions on the blue leaflet, selecting 'Holmer Green Church' as your chosen charity.
3) When in any participating shop (recognising the blue and white membership card), select own-brand goods.
4) At the checkout, show your membership card to the cashier.
If you or your friends are already members of the CO-OP, ask them to nominate 'Holmer Green Church' as the chosen charity.
** this only applies to the CO-OP group (with stores all over England) but not to stores belonging to the Mid-Counties CO-OP.
